We will be co-creating 3 large street puppets inspired by the oldest stories of our area - those that come from the Tongva people. The puppets will be part of a procession and display at the Lummis Day Festival on June 4th. Children and adults are welcome to come hear Tongva stories, and join in the exciting process of community art making!

Our storyteller (May 13) is Don Newton, a community activist, poet, painter and long time resident of Northeast Los Angeles. His book "The Beginning of the World" is a collection of stories and legends of the Tongva.
